Viewed as an educational and supportive service, counseling assistance takes place on an individual basis, or, when appropriate, in groups. Counselors offer assistance with the educational process, building of self-concept, improvement of interpersonal relationships, and awareness of skills that lead to self-management. When appropriate, students are referred to community agencies or resource persons where they can be assisted more effectively.
Personal counseling assistance is a free and confidential service provided to Isothermal students who are facing challenging times.
The counselor has offered Anxiety Support Groups in the past for Isothermal curriculum students. The group allows students to gain support from one another and the counselor as they work through anxiety related issues. If you are interested in attending a workshop, please contact the counselor for more information.

Protecting your confidentiality is important to us and we try to ensure that what is said during a counseling session is kept private. However, there are exceptions to confidentiality in certain instances. By law, we are required to get help if someone threatens to harm themselves or others or needs to be hospitalized for other reasons. We are also required to report to the proper authorities if someone indicates abuse of an child, elder, or disabled person. In addition, if there is a court order for information about a person, we are required to disclose the information requested. In all of these situations, we will try to make every effort to involve you in the process if a report must be made. A written release signed by you is required to release information to a third party in any other circumstance. See the counselor’s Professional Disclosure Statement for more detail.
