Career Counseling

We are here to help you achieve a brighter future.

Still trying to figure out what you want to be when you grow up? Career counseling may help. The area of Career Development has a well-established program that assists students and adults in the community in choosing and moving toward a career that is right for them.

Career counseling usually begins with an assessment to help determine what areas may be of interest to you.  Career assessments can be very insightful and provide some direction regarding your career path.  Students then have the opportunity to meet individually with a career counselor to discuss the assessment results and how the results relate to different careers.

Participating in career counseling can save time and money. If career counseling is completed early on in a student's education, it enables him or her to choose a career that fits their personality type, making it less likely that the student switch career paths later. Taking the time to talk with a career counselor helps students be more informed about the admission processes and prerequisites for various academic programs. It also means students spend less time taking courses that they do not want or need. Students planning to transfer to obtain a four-year degree can benefit by narrowing down their long-term goals.

Career exploration and information gathering are the next steps towards determining a career path. Counselors can provide useful research tools that will help students narrow down their decision even more. Information about salary and outlook are of concern for most students.  Feel assured that counselors are not only well-versed in programs offered at Isothermal, but will not hesitate to provide information on majors offered at other institutions as well.
