Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Isothermal Community College, in partnership with the North Carolina Community College System, will provide limited emergency grants to eligible students who have faced ongoing financial hardships caused by Hurricane Helene that would impact their ability to continue enrollment.
Eligibility criteria
- Complete the application by December 15, 2024.
- Enrolled at Isothermal Community College as a Curriculum, eligible Continuing Education, Career and College Promise (CCP), or College and Career Readiness student during the Fall 2024 semester on or after September 26, 2024.
- Either graduate at the end of the Fall 2024 semester or plan to return to Isothermal Community College for the Spring 2025 semester.
- Reside, temporarily or permanently, in one of the following Western North Carolina counties affected by Hurricane Helene: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Buncombe, Caldwell, Catawba, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey.
- Indicate a financial need related to the impact of Hurricane Helene.

- Firefighter
- Healthcare Billing and Coding
- Massage Therapy
- Medication Aide/Med-Tech
- Nurse Aide
- Pharmacy Technician
- Phlebotomy
Grants are awarded based on need and available resources to assist with a student’s continued enrollment or graduation, covering expenses related but not limited to transportation, living expenses, eligible outstanding balances to the College, textbooks/supplies, tuition, and fees.
